Watch: Tram passengers left stunned by screaming row

Passengers were left stunned when a row between three people on a tram boiled over and led to the police being called.

The argument between a couple and another woman started on a Phoenix Park-bound tram on Sunday at around 6.50pm.

The tram was briefly held up at Wilkinson Street as the row spilled over on to a platform and NET staff intervened to try to diffuse the situation.

Jen Thomas, a student at Nottingham Trent University filmed the dispute.

She said “I got on board at the university heading towards Phoenix Park. Then the shouting started.

It was really quite aggressive

“Some of it was really quite aggressive. The other passengers looked concerned and two young guys ran to help at one point.

“There was a young family on board next to me, who were just trying to stay out of the way.

“Some tram drivers got involved and the police came shortly after.”

A Police spokesman said: “Officers attended an incident after an assault was reported. No arrests were made, but all parties have been identified and we will be making enquiries.”

A spokesperson for Nottingham Express Transit NET said: “There was an altercation between a couple and a woman on a tram.

“The driver called police assistance, whilst awaiting arrival at Wilkinson Street tram stop, a couple of NET staff tried to keep the people apart. This matter is now understood to be under police investigation.”
