Watership Down row: Are kids too protected?

Some parents took to social media to vent their anger after the animated film Watership Down was broadcast on Sunday afternoon.

The 1978 classic, an adaptation of Richard Adams’s fantasy adventure novel, tells the story of a threatened warren an includes scenes of rabbits dying.

Channel 5 aired the film, which prompted a strong reaction from some mums and dads on Facebook and Twitter.

It has a ‘U’ certificate – but has much darker themes than many modern cartoons aimed at children.

Some parents said the complaints were an over-reaction. We asked people in West Bridgford what they thought.
