The bodies of two women have been found inside a Radford home and police believe they may have been lying there ‘for some time’.
Nottinghamshire Police were called to the home in Hartley Road at 11.04am yesterday (Tuesday, May 21) after concerns were raised for the welfare of its occupants.
Officers gained entry to the property and found the bodies of the two women inside.
In a statement issued today, the force said it believed the women had been in the property for a while before being discovered.
A police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 11.04am yesterday (Tuesday) after concerns were raised for the welfare of the occupants of a property in Hartley Road, Radford.
“Officers later gained entry to the address and found the bodies of two women inside. It is believed they had lain undiscovered for some time.”
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow added: “Whilst we don’t believe there to be an immediate risk to the public, we are keeping an open mind into what has happened at this address and will be working hard over the next few days to establish how and when these two women lost their lives.
“In the meantime, my thoughts – and those of every other officer involved in this investigation – are with those who have died, their family and friends.”
Red hazard tape covered the home entrance at 9am on Wednesday, with one police car remaining outside on Hartley Road and another to the rear of the property.
Forensics were seen at the house – which is an end-of-terrace property – throughout Tuesday.
The force has not yet confirmed the identities of the women.
But in a statement posted later on Wednesday, DCI Burrow added: “Whilst our investigation remains at an early stage, we do not currently believe what happened to be suspicious.
“We have enlisted the help of a forensic pathologist and will be in a better position to determine what has happened once they conclude their report.”
