Current Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough is linked with the Nottingham Forest job despite Gary Brazil saying he’s relishing the role.
Nottingham Forest have reportedly made an official approach for Nigel Clough, who is expected to meet the chairman of Burton Albion today (Friday January 27).
Nigel, 50, son of Nottingham Forest legend Brian Clough, has been with Burton Albion in his second spell as manager of the club since December 2015.
Teams Nigel Clough has managed
- 1998-2009 – Burton Albion
- 2009-2013 – Derby County
- 2013-2015 – Sheffield United
- 2015-present – Burton Albion
The Reds have been searching for a permanent manager since Philippe Montanier was sacked on January 14, just a day after Fawaz Al-Hasawi announced John Jay Moore’s takeover of the club had been called off.
Since then, Al-Hasawi issued a statement saying he is committed to the long-term future of Nottingham Forest.
John Jay Moores said an offer to buy 100 per cent of the club ‘was not accepted,’ a statement that was rejected by Al-Hasawi.

Gary Brazil says he is relishing his new role, however, and is identifying signings with owner and chairman Al-Hasawi to strengthen the squad, something Brazil says needs to happen.
He said: “From our point of view we’re focused on making sure that we do our jobs properly and that we’re ready to go when there’s a game.
“We’re very very happy with how we’re working on the training ground and we will be carrying this forward.
“While I’m doing this, I’m going to make sure that the team gives a hell of a lot of commitment to the fans.
“I’ve been speaking to Fawaz about a number of things and, from my point of view, he’s been very supportive and we are trying incredibly hard to bring players in this window; it’s clear from our point of view we’d like to try and strengthen the squad.”
