Cashier, 70, threatened with gun in betting shop robbery

A 70-year-old woman cashier was threatened at gunpoint in a betting shop robbery.

A youth wielding a handgun demanded money at the Betfred branch on Derby Road in Stapleford at around 9.20pm yesterday (Sunday January 22) evening.

He fled on foot after taking cash from the till.

Police say the robber was white, aged 16 to 17, about 5ft, wearing a black bomber jacket, dark jogging bottoms, gloves and a black and white face covering.

The cashier was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre with a hand injury after the incident, but was not seriously hurt.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 761 of January 22 2017.
