Cooper: Magpies fans have a part to play in season turnaround

Mark Cooper says Notts County’s fans have important role to play in the club efforts to climb the table as his side prepare to face high-flying Northampton,

The Magpies are on a poor run of form but new manager Cooper is looking to build on the hard-earned point against Wycombe on Monday.

The former Swindon boss believes Northampton’s position at the top of the league does not mean the pressure is off for him or his team and insists his players should relish the chance to cause an upset.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s tie Cooper explained how important getting the basics right will be in order to climb the table, and said better performances will help give the Meadow Lane crowd something to cheer about and build momentum.

He said: “We need to make sure everyone knows their roles and responsibilities and then we can build from there.”

Northampton are in fine form and Cooper is well aware of the threat they will pose when his side travel to Sixfields Stadium: “They are a very organised, strong unit with players at the top of the pitch who can hurt you.”

Saturday’s game kick’s off at 3pm.
