Derby Road re-opened after pedestrian dies in crash

A man in his 20s has died after a crash on Derby Road in Lenton.

Notts Police were called to the crash at around 4.45pm on Thursday (March 30). The man, who was a pedestrian, was hit by a car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The was closed between Priory Island and the Queen’s Medical Centre roundabout, but re-opened around midnight after police finished examining the scene.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have seen anything or has any information, including dash cam footage of the incident, to contact 101, quoting incident number 686 of March 30.

It is the second time a pedestrian has died on the same stretch of road in six months.

A 26-year-old woman was hit and killed on Saturday October 9, close to the entrance to Wollaton Park on the road.

Several people have posted tributes to the man who died yesterday online.

Alex Tremellen wrote on Facebook: “I went by after the incident but before any emergency vehicles were there, I presume I cannot assist the police. It was horrendous.”

Julie Cooke posted: “So tragic, not long since someone else died along there. Thoughts with his family and friends.”
