Forest manager Freedman relishing taking on old club Bolton

Dougie Freedman is looking forward to returning to former club Bolton Wanderers as he and Nottingham Forest look to build on the seven points they have taken in the last three games.

Last weekend Forest just couldn’t make it three from three as David Ferguson’s late header rescued an entertaining 4-4 for Blackpool.

Despite that, Freedman is taking positives from the way his side fought back from 2-0 down and continued their unbeaten start to his reign.

“The way we fought back from 2-0 down showed the character of the squad and that what we have been doing on the training ground is working,” he said.

“The best aspect about it is that even at 2-0 I was laid back as I knew we had the quality in the squad to do what we did.”

Looking ahead to Bolton, Freedman believes his time there will not have any bearing when the two sides meet on Saturday.

“They could have changed everything since I was last there so I don’t think any prior knowledge will help us prepare for the tough game against them,” he said.

“Every game in this division is crucial but I believe that if we complete our skills to the best of our ability then there is no game we should fear or not try and win.”

Freedman was also adamant that the current contract he has, which has a review period at the end of the season, is ideal for both parties.

When we first sat down it was clear that both parties wanted that little bit of time at the end of the season to reflect and see how we were going forward.

“It is an 18-month contract overall and I am planning for that and beyond as the long term goals of the club are some of the most important.”
