A city centre market that offers Nottingham’s independent businesses the chance to sell their products returned for a third time.

The Ay Up market took place from April 26-28 at Old Market Square, organised by It’s in Nottingham.

Over 60 businesses offering food and products including ceramics, fashion and handmade gifts appeared at the market.

One of the stalls celebrating Nottingham’s culture is Dukki which sells products with regional dialect and landmarks of the East Midlands on it.

The independent business has been running for 10 years, starting with a shop on Broadmarsh and now turning into an online-only business based in Chilwell.

Heidi Hargreaves said: “The market is really good advertising and it’s been a great opportunity to touch base with a lot of old customers that we used to have as regulars.

“It’s just really nice to get ourselves out there and let people know what we do.”

Megan Ismay also appeared at the Ay Up market which is a small business that designs and makes clothes locally.

She says that her business often struggles with visibility so being part of the local market scene helps more people find out about her products.

The Ay Up market has now been running for past three years.

Heidi added: “It’s brilliant to be an independent business in Nottingham.

“It’s a great city and Nottingham has more independent businesses than any other city outside London so that’s something to be proud of and I’m glad to be part of it.”

The market also celebrated the Notts’ musical talent with performances from artists on the stage and groups playing around the stalls.
