Nottingham’s former ISIS nightclub will be replaced with five new restaurants and cafes creating up to 140 jobs.

The club on Redfield Way, near the Showcase Cinema, closed its doors in 2009 following a number of violent incidents and will now be converted into five restaurants or cafes.

Nottingham City Council’s planning committee granted planning permission for five units after they were presented with CGI images showing what the restaurants could look like.

A lot of thought has been put into this

Deputy leader of Nottingham City Council Graham Chapman praised the designs shown in the scheme.

He said: “We’ve actually got some decent architecture and there’s a lot of thought that’s been put into this.

“There are a lot of positives; I just hope it doesn’t have any effect on the city centre!”

A report on the scheme said: “Once operational, it is anticipated that there would be a potential to create a range of permanent and casual positions.

“Therefore the proposal would have a positive economic benefit to the local area in terms of job creation.”
