The Future Sound of Nottingham

The Future Sound of Nottingham competition is up and running, the artist that wins each year is given the chance to play the main stage at Splendour festival.

The Future Sound of Nottingham is organised through the community project NUSIC.

The competition began at Stealth. Each group or individual artist fought it out for one of the fourteen places for the final stage.

The finalists of the competition will continue their musical battle on the main stage of Rock City on June 14th, where the independent panel of judges will choose the winner.

The prize gives the artists a chance to play in front of 20,000 people at Splendour music festival, which will return to Wollaton Park later this year.

The festival has seen the likes of Jake Bugg, Indiana, Amber Run, Dog is Dead and other big names over the years.

We’ve had so many success stories, when Indiana came through two years ago, no-one had ever seen her play in public and look at her now!

NUSIC focuses on all things Notts and music related, which aims to support unsigned musicians from across the county.

Last years winner, Joy Mumford is returning to Splendour festival this year, she is the first Future Sound of Nottingham competitor to be asked back to the music event for a second time.

Joy wasn’t phased by the 20,000 strong crowd that she played in front off at Splendour festival after winning the Future Sound of Nottingham.

It was really amazing, and it was nice to see that so many people were there to watch. It was a dream gig for me.
