Nottingham is seeing its best year for blossom in a decade.
The year has been exceptionally good for blossom because of a mixture of sunny days, cool evenings and a lack of rain and strong winds which means the blossom stays on the trees for longer.
Charles Watkins, Professor of Rural Geography at the University of Nottingham said its a fantastic year for blossom and been the best in the last ten years.
He said: “Its a wonderful bloom year this year and the sun is really shining beautifully.”
“Its still, its sunny and its cool in the evening which means these blossom what usually last a few days have been lasting more like a week or so.”
David Beadle, who manages the grounds at the University of Nottingham, said the spring flowers enhance the experience for both students and staff at the university campus.
“The last couple of years have not been so good for blossom you need certain weather to produce the best kind of blossom.”
“It emphasises the end of winter and the start of spring and summer and generally puts a smile of peoples faces.”
