A man from London has been camping in a Nottingham city centre street since Saturday to get his hands on the newest pair of Kanye West’s Yeezy trainers.

The adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2s in Cream White go on sale Saturday April 29, but Daniel Odoh started queuing a week in advance to be in with a chance of getting the £150 shoes.

His plans are to resell the trainers for a profit.

“I came on Saturday,” he said. “Of course I’m going to get them, I’m the first person.”

Around 150 people are trying to get a wristband to but the shoes but 18montrose in Bridlesmith Gate, the shop selling them, won’t know how many pairs of trainers they’ll have available until the afternoon before.

“It hasn’t been too bad, the weather- it’s been raining a bit so yeah, it’s alright, it’s just cold at night time but I’m still camping,” Daniel added.

He is staying at a hotel and goes back there only to shower and eat, then comes back every four hours.

This is to take part in a roll call, where everyone interested in the shoes must come back to say they’re still interested- otherwise their name will be crossed off the list.

Around 150 people stood outside the shop for roll call.

On Friday April 28, the day before the shoes are released, anyone who wants a chance to buy them will have to wait outside the shop between 3-7pm to get a wristband.

Calvin Ekpiteta has been queuing for the shoes alongside Daniel.

“I’m just so obsessed with the new Yeezys and the colour,” he said.

“There’s only limited pairs so I’m basically guaranteed a pair.”

The group have set up camp chairs and use blankets to stay warm while they wait for the launch.

“The weather’s been alright but you just got to enjoy it,” added Calvin.

Groups meet at the shop every four hours to get a chance to buy the shoes.

In February, hopefuls queued for five days to get the ‘adidas Yeezy Boost 350 V2’ trainers.

And 18montrose are also running an online raffle, where winners will get the opportunity to purchase the shoes online.

The trainers are already being posted on online resale sites for around £600, £450 more than their original value.

The shoes are already being priced at almost £600 on eBay.

“To hear that they’ve been queuing since last Saturday, that’s insane, I’m not sure that I need a pair of shoes that bad,” said passerby Diane Radischat, who is visiting friends in Nottingham.

“But I don’t think I’d wait that long for anything anyway, that’s far too long to wait.”

Shopper Stephen Stanley added: “I think if it was for something expensive, something I really wanted like a car, I might queue for a week- I certainly wouldn’t queue any longer than that.”
