A man has appeared in court in Nottingham after being charged with the murder of a 16-year-old girl in Newark.
James Morton, 23, was arrested after Hannah Pearson was found unconscious at his home on Pierson Street in the early hours of Sunday.
She was taken to hospital by ambulance but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
Morton was interviewed and charged with murder by detectives on Tuesday night.
He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court this morning where he was remanded into custody to re-appear at the city’s Crown Court tomorrow.
