Staff at Nottingham Arena say they have been left “shocked and deeply saddened” by the terrorist attack in Manchester last night.

The attack so far has killed 22 people, including children, and injured a further 59, and took place at the end of a concert by US pop singer Ariana Grande.

The venue and Manchester Arena are both members of the National Arenas Association.

The arena said in a statement: “All of the team at the Motorpoint Arena are shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific attack at Manchester Arena last night. We send our thoughts and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved and injured and all those affected by this terrible event.

“All arenas will continue to work together to share best practice from security experts, the police and one another to implement robust security procedures which are tested and reviewed regularly, in order that we can provide the safest possible environment for our customers to enjoy.

“The response of the staff working at Manchester Arena and the emergency services in dealing with such traumatic circumstances was remarkable and testament to the quality of the people working in the industry, and those emergency services who support us both daily but also in times of our greatest need.”
