Nottingham Castle could host landmark thanks to Leonardo da Vinci exhibit

Nottingham Castle could see the millionth visitor of a Royal Collection Trust exhibition come through its doors.

Royal Collection Trust owns the Leonardo da Vinci drawings currently on display at the castle and it has been doing that well here in the city that they are hopeful that the millionth visitor of their exhibitions will visit at Nottingham.

Ten drawings by Leonardo da Vinci are currently on show at Nottingham Castle and are making a rare public appearance outside of the closed doors of the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle.

We’ve already had a lot of repeat visitors

Visual arts and exhibitions assistant Colette Griffin said: “We’re really hoping that our figures will be high enough to push that over the million mark for them and for us.

“It’s been busier than at this point last year and we’d like to think it’s down to the Leonardo da Vinci exhibition.

“We’ve already had a lot of repeat visitors with people coming to see the exhibition up to around four times so far.”

People have relished seeing the drawings in the flesh

The reaction to the exhibition from visitors has been positive, according to Colette.

She said: “On Facebook and Twitter, people have been using terms like ‘exquisite,’ ‘exciting’ and ‘amazing’ to describe the exhibition.

“People have relished being able to see the drawings in the flesh and they have felt special seeing it.

“It’s definitely got that magic around it.”
