Sunday will be Nottingham’s hottest day of the year so far with temperatures expected to reach a scorching 23 degrees Celsius across the county.
Forecasters from the Met Office say temperatures will range from 11 Celsius in the morning to highs of 23 in the late afternoon.
The warm weather means that Nottingham is going to be hotter than a number of popular holiday destinations including Ibiza in Spain, Crete in Greece and Melbourne in Australia.
However there could be heavy, but brief, rain showers on Saturday with a chance of thunder.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Over the next few days we expect the temperatures to climb. Thursday has been the warmest day of the year so far and we are expecting that record to be broken over the weekend.
“We could get some showers over the weekend that might be thundery but they wont be long-lived.”

And there is further good news as the warm weather looks set to continue into next week.
This is despite Nottinghamshire County Council road gritting vehicles still being in use last week, a full month later than usual, thanks to the recent icy cold snap.
It meant council crews have had to split time between their summer activities such as cutting grass and their winter activities which include gritting the roads.

And there are a number of free activities taking place in parks in May that Nottingham people can take advantage of such as netball, yoga, football, orienteering and Nordic walks.
Nottingham City Council’s Senior Park Ranger, John Simpson, said: “There’s lots to do, it’s not just about sitting on the park, its about bringing the family with you and being active and participating in these activities and having a fantastic time.”

A barbecue is always a popular way of making the most of the good weather and award-winning Sherwood butcher, Johnny Pusztai, of J T Beedham and Sons, has compiled a list of his top meat recipes for summer.
Top five BBQ meats from Sherwood butcher Johnny Pusztai
Homemade burgers– It’s easy to create your own burgers, and cheap, simply go to the butchers and pick up some ground mince and then it’s easy to customise the burgers to suit your own palette. Johnny recommends garlic with crushed black pepper, fennel with crushed pepper, paprika with caraway seed or for a more oriental flavour use curry powder or soy sauce.
Spatchcock chicken – Put the spatchcock chicken in the oven with paprika and chilli powder for 35-40 minutes before putting on the BBQ for the last 15 minutes to give it that char-grilled flavour.
Shoulder of lamb – Smother the shoulder of lamb with garlic and rosemary and put in a tin with whatever vegetables you have available. Cook in the oven for around 1 hour 20 before finishing on the BBQ. Render the sauce the vegetables were cooked in for a sauce to accompany the lamb.
Belly pork – Mix butter with half tablespoon of Marmite and then paint the belly pork all over before putting in in the over for 1 hour 20 minutes. Baste the belly pork again and then put on the BBQ for 20 minutes.
Flatrib beef – Put the flatrib beef in some foil with rapeseed oil and some horseradish before putting in the oven for four hours and finishing on the BBQ. Can serve in a wrap or on its own.
