Volunteers from Nottingham are helping Syrian refugees by shipping thousands of underwear items out to them.

Caroline Kerr, founder of Bras Not Bombs, has been helping to get clean underwear over to Syrian women since the turn of this year.

She has been given thousands of underwear items from people and companies which will all be donated to refugees who need them.

A lot of these women have been raped, tortured and mutilated

Caroline said: “We have been donated lots of designer underwear and we’re going to sell it as we have so many items to raise money to buy appropriate underwear to send to Syria.

“That’s why we need to raise more money – to get the right underwear; bras are a little bit more expensive and maternity bras are even more.

“In realistic terms, you are dealing with hellish situations – they’re fleeing for their lives and a lot of these women have been raped, tortured and mutilated.

“They need some dignity back.”
