Nottingham woman braving the shave for charity

A woman who has never cut her hair is taking the plunge and shaving it all off in the hope of raising money for a personal charity.

Simone Dewis, who is from Blidworth in Mansfield will be taking part in this year’s ‘Brave the Shave’ campaign to raise money for Macmillan Cancer support and the Jerry Green Dog rescue Centre.

Simone will have all of her hair shaved off during the dog rescue centre’s annual summer show, which coincides with the official opening of the brand new rescue facility in Blidworth, on Sunday 23rd August from 11.30am.

Having worked at Jerry Green’s Nottinghamshire centre for five years as a kennel welfare assistant, Simone knows how vital fundraising is to the continued work of the charity.

Simone, whose hair has never been cut or dyed, is using the opportunity to raise money for another charity close to her heart.

She said: “Macmillan is currently providing support and care to my Aunty Helen, who was recently diagnosed with cancer.

“She is the bravest person I know, she has kept on working and doing all the things she has always wanted to do, whilst organising the future. If she can do all that, then I decided I can get my head shaved!”

Anyone who would like to donate can do so via the Just Giving page.
