Both Notts County and Mansfield Town have said that their home games will go ahead tonight (Tuesday November 22).

The Magpies and the Stags both gave updates this morning about the states of their pitches and say that their respective Sky Bet League 2 clashes will happen.

Notts County play Cambridge Town and will welcome Shaun Derry back to Meadow Lane; Mansfield Town play Blackpool in Steve Evans’ second game in charge of the Stags at the One Call Stadium.

Notts County head groundsman Trevor Hutchinson said: “The pitch has drained really, really well overnight.

“We’ve got a few isolated areas of standing water – there’s probably an hour-and-a-half’s work required to fork those away.

“If the forecasters have got it right – and they’ve done us proud so far this year – this rain is supposed to stop at midday and the pitch will drain away on its own.

“We can already see the volume of water that’s drained through the night so we know it’ll go.

“While the rain’s still falling it’s best just to stay off it – let nature take its course. The minute the rain stops, work starts!”

Mansfield Town held a pitch inspection at 9.15am after heavy rain yesterday put the fixture in doubt.

Head groundsman Michael Merriman said: “The pitch has drained really well over night, which was very positive to see after it was under water yesterday.

“It will still be damp in parts but the ball is in motion on the pitch and we’re good to go this evening.”
