Police have reassured people in West Bridgford after receiving reports of a suspicious incident.

Nottinghamshire officers received a report at 3.05pm on Thursday (September 28) that two boys had been persuaded to get into a car.

Investigations have confirmed the matter has now been resolved and the boys were not harmed.

Inspector Sukesh Verma said: “The initial report, which was made to us in good faith, was very concerning and we swiftly allocated and deployed officers.

“However our enquiries established the incident was not as it first appeared.

“We’re satisfied it was a misunderstanding and there was no need for further alarm and we have not identified any offences.

“We’d like to thank members of the West Bridgford community for their support and for coming to us so swiftly with information.”
