Robin Hood Marathon, are you prepared?

Thousands will be turning up to Nottingham on Sunday 27th September to run The Ikano Robin Hood Marathon and Half Marathon.

The race which now has a new route will be starting and finishing in Victoria embankment, with 4 different races happening throughout the day including a mini marathon and a corporate challenge.

The first race will start at 9.30am.

Chris Jones, 50, will be a pace runner for the half marathon on the day, he gave some words of advice for anyone running:

‘Allow plenty of time to arrive at the start, make sure you read all the race information before you get there’

‘Keep to your usual pre run routine and breakfast – don’t try out something new on race day’

‘One of the biggest mistakes is being swept along by other runners or race day adrenalin at the start and run at a faster pace than you had originally planned, always keep to your race plan’

‘There are both sports drinks and water provided for you around the course, sports drinks will give you energy and hydration so it is best to read the race day instructions to make sure you know where the sports drinks are so you don’t miss out on them’

‘If you are not an experienced runner use the pace runners – pace runners are experienced runners nominated a given time – so if you’re wanting to get round in a certain time then I’d recommend finding the specific pace runner for your time’

‘Enjoy the day and trust that your training will pay off, if things get tough, focus on what you will do after the race has finished, don’t let your mind dwell on the little niggles’.
