Should an MP’s private life always remain private?

Culture Secretary John Whittingdale is under pressure over his role in decisions about press regulation after it emerged he had a relationship with a woman who was a sex worker.

Mr Whittingdale says he was not aware of the woman’s real job at the time and broke up with her when he found out – before he became a minister.

The story has opened up a debate about if an MP’s private life should always be private – and if not, when the line should be crossed by the media.

We asked the Nottingham public for their views.
