Special Report: One year of Dougie – how Forest are faring under Freedman

It’s exactly a year since Dougie Freedman was unveiled as the new Nottingham Forest manager.

The Scot arrived to take over from Stuart Pearce – who left with his legendary status intact, but without having achieved the club’s aims of a meaningful promotion push.

Twelve months on and there are encouraging signs at the City Ground, with the Reds moving up the table and forming a formidable unit in defence.

But goals remain elusive and Freedman has had to cope with a rash of injuries and a transfer embargo.

“I’ve loved every minute of it,” Freedman said of his first year in the hot seat.

“I really enjoy the ups and downs of it, it’s what life is all about. We’re moving the club forward and progressing the club in such a way that I’m not only concentrating on the first team but I like to think I’m concentrating on the whole club.

“There’s been some difficult moments, it’s been challenging at times as well but we’ve come through it and we’re looking forward.”
