Terrifying moment woman robbed of £9,000 at knife point caught on CCTV

The moment a masked man held a knife to a woman’s throat and robbed a Meadows club of £9,000 has been caught on CCTV.

Police have released the harrowing images to try to trace the attacker, who struck at the Embankment Club in Arkwright Street on the morning of August 2.

Detectives have also released a snippet of audio which captures the woman’s frightened sobs and the robber demanding she fill a bag, then saying “stay here until I’ve gone, yeah?”

Officers hope someone will recognise his voice or mannerisms and pick up the phone.

Warning: The second half of the video includes audio some people may find distressing

The clip is due to appear on the BBC’s Crimewatch programme tonight (Tuesday, December 15).

Det Sgt Kayne Rukas said: “This was obviously an incredibly traumatic experience for the woman involved who was going about her daily work only to be grabbed from behind by a man armed with a knife.

“It is vital this man is identified and caught as soon as possible. We believe there will be someone out there who will recognise him either from the footage, the audio or both.”
