The Harvey Hadden Sports Village has finally opened its doors following a £16 million pound renovation in Bilborough.
The state of the art sports centre located in Bilborough grand opening took place this Saturday.
The new sports village has a number off exciting new facilities on offer, including an Olympic sized swimming pool.
A whole host of activities were taking place for families to get involved in including basketball, diving and deep water swimming.
Former swimming Olympian Steve Parry was also on hand to get involved in some comparing and hosting.
He said: “I’ve got a swimming business and my aim now is to get as many people into the water as possible, so its great to see this investment going to such a fantastic local community.”
Entertainment was provided by Bilborugh Youth Network Choir who played a variety of Sports related songs.
Bilborough Youth Network Choir provided the entertainment with a medley of sport related songs.
Outside the complex an orienteering event was also taking place with both the British Cycling Go Ride and Nottingham City of Football.
Coucillor Dave Trimble was at the event and was clearly excited about what the new Harvey Hadden Sports Village will mean for Nottingham.
He said: ” This is a fantastic thing for Nottinghamshire, its a wow factor. We’ve got decades of poor health in this City and this a game changer.”
“Nottingham is definitely becoming a place on the map for Sports and I’ve been waiting for this day for over 10 years so I’m incredibly happy that it is here.”
