Harvey Hadden Sports Village opens

The £16 million redevelopment will now offer the only 50m pool in Nottingham with swimming available everyday.

The redevelopment is the largest investment of Nottingham City Council’s Leisure transformation Programme.

The Village will offer residents extensive state of the art indoor facilities including its Speedo Swim Centre which includes an eight lane 50m swimming pool with adjustable pool floors which can divided into two 25m pools.

Outdoor Facilities will also be an offer and include a 1.5km closed road cycling circuit and an improved athletics stadium and expanded running track.

Councillor Dave Trimble has said he is excited about the Sports Village, which has been in the works for the past 10 years.

He said: “10 years back we had a dream of a Leisure Centre transformation programme and over the past ten years we have spent over £40 million on our leisure centres.”

“Other Councils have been closing their facilities up and down the Country and we have noticed a lot of inherent health problems.”

Mr Trimble is also keen to encourage the younger residents of Nottingham to attend the Village.

“We are aiming to catch the young people of Nottingham, give them good facilities so that they are encouraged to come back and hopefully stop some of those health problems further down the line”.
