M1 re-opened following five vehicle collision including a lorry

The M1 between junctions 27 and 28 has been re-opened of a collision involving five vehicles including a lorry.

Highways England announced the clean-up has been completed and that all closures had been lifted.

An incident happened at around 8am this morning involving a Honda Civic, an Audi A5, two Ford Fiestas and a Mercedes lorry.

The northbound carriageway was completely closed earlier today and the accident also affected the southbound carriageway.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police, who dealt with the incident, said: “Paramedics attended the scene but none of the injuries are believed to be life threatening.”

Fire crews also attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Notts Fire & Rescue said: “Crews from Stockhill, Ashfield and the Specialist Rescue Unit from Highfields were called at 8.09am to a road traffic collision of the northbound carriageway of the M1 between junctions 27 and 28.

“Firefighters attended, along with two officers, and made the vehicles safe before leaving the scene at 8.50am.”
