Man charged with St Ann’s murder after victim was stabbed in neck

A 39-year-old man from Clifton has been charged with the murder of John Parker in Hedderley Park, after he died from a single stab wound to the neck.

Jonathan Jones, 39, of Barbury Drive, Clifton, is appearing at Nottingham magistrates’ court after being charged with the murder of 43-year-old dad, John Parker.

Police were called to Hedderley Park at 4.13pm on Sunday after receiving reports of a stabbing where the victim was found with serious injuries.

John Parker of Birkin Avenue, Hyson Green, was taken to the Queens Medical Centre where he later died from a single stab wound to the neck, a post mortem examination has revealed.

Hedderley Court and Comyn Gardens remained cordoned off on Monday as forensic officers investigated the crime scene.

Today the first flower was laid by the scene of the incident.

A 35-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, related to an earlier incident involving the victim, has been bailed pending further enquiries.

A 14-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released without charge.

Natalie Christon, 40, of Comwyn Gardens, lives just metres away from the crime scene. She said: “It’s awful, I have young children and I can’t let them out of the house.

I feel sick that something like this could happen on my doorstep.

Nottinghamshire Police are also keen to trace a silver Ford Focus car which is believed to have been close to scene at the time at the incident, although the occupants of the car are not believed to have been involved.
