A man has been jailed for 17 years for serious sexual offences against two children.

Graham Wardle, 49, of King John’s Road in Clipstone, was found guilty of 15 counts, including attempted rape, sexual assault and causing and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

Nottingham Crown Court was told the offences were committed over a number of years and sentenced him on Friday (November 4).

Detective Sergeant Dan Bebbington said: “These victims have been extremely brave throughout a difficult case and I have the greatest respect for them.

“I hope that today’s result offers them some comfort in the knowledge that this man is now behind bars for his crimes, and I hope it encourages other victims of sexual abuse to come forward and speak to police.

“We are determined to bring perpetrators of child sexual abuse before the courts and will do all that we can to ensure these criminals can cause no further harm to children.”

In 2014 one of his victims was admitted to hospital after having tried to take a number of tablets.

At the time she said one of the reasons she’d done this was because of the sexual abuse she’d suffered from Wardle.
