Man jailed for assaulting a woman he kept as a slave in Aspley

A man who repeatedly assaulted a woman with learning difficulties has been jailed.

Andrew Pepper, 26, pleaded guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm and five counts of common assault in December.

Pepper was jailed for two years and three months at Nottingham Crown Court on Monday.

He took part in acts of cruelty against the woman who was being kept as a slave by Pepper’s friends Gavin Pascoe and Denise Jepson at a house in Aspley.

During the trial it was revealed that the woman was forced to sleep on the floor or in a duck pen.

She suffered a broken wrist and ribs and a medical exam also found scarring on her back, thighs and arms.

The woman escaped when someone visited the house and told her to get out. She ran to a neighbour’s house and the police were called.

Partners Vicki Jepson, 29, and her partner Gavin Pascoe, 37, were both sentenced on 11 December.

Jepson was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty to forced labour, theft and committing actual bodily harm (ABH) on at least five occasions.

Pascoe was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to forced labour, one count of grievous bodily harm and committing ABH on at least ten occasions.
