Manager Mark Cooper expects tough test against Hartlepool

VIDEO: Mark Cooper and Haydn Hollis discuss Hartlepool and the current mood at the club

Notts County manager Mark Cooper expects the Pies to be pushed when Hartlepool visit Meadow Lane on Tuesday night.

The Magpies’ last away win came against Hartlepool in February after they won 3-2 thanks to two goals from Jon Stead an one from Liam Noble.

Cooper is confident that the side will kick on after earning a much needed 1-0 win thanks to a Liam Noble goal against Stevenage on Saturday after being without a win since travelling to Hartlepool.

The win gives you belief

Cooper said: “The mood has been good since I came in and the players have been magnificent and the staff have looked after me.

“I think the win gives you that belief and it justifies that what you’re trying to do can work and the most important thing is that it gives everybody confidence.

“It’s more pleasing to win than earning a clean sheet – I’d rather win 4-3 if I can!”

We are walking off with massive smiles

Defender Haydn Hollis also believes that the result will be positive for everyone going forward.

“It’s lifted a few people’s chests up and especially in the stands as well because the atmosphere in the stands was brilliant and as a footballer, that’s what you want as you don’t want boos and people walking out.

“People are now walking off the training pitch with a massive smile on their faces every day and that’s what the football club aims to do.

“I think the manager brings out the best in people in the way he goes about things and he’s fitted in perfectly.”
