Nottinghamshire couple going all out for Halloween-themed wedding

Simon and Alyx Haloween wedding

A Nottinghamshire couple have taken the brave decision to break from tradition and hold their wedding on the spookiest weekend of the year.

Simon O’Sullivan and Alyx Greaves will wed on Saturday, October 29, wearing full Halloween make-up and costumes at Worksop’s register office.

The couple have asked their 50 guests to also dress appropriately for the ghoulish celebration.

Miss Greaves, 31, will walk down the aisle wearing an ivory wedding dress and candy skull make-up as the ‘This is Halloween’ theme from the ‘Nightmare before Christmas’ plays.

The bride’s inspiration for the make-up comes from the Mexican holiday ‘Dia de Muertos’ – Day of the Dead – where family and friends gather to pray for and remember those who have died.

Mr O’Sullivan, his best man and his father-in-law will all wear skull-printed suits.

The 48-year-old groom said: “Halloween is our favourite day of the year so we thought we’d do something different for our wedding.

“We had a mixed reaction from friends and family when we told them as some thought it was a wind-up but they are now more excited than we are about the day.”

The newly-wed couple will then leave the register office to ‘The Addams Family’ theme tune.

Even those conducting the service will be donning their most spooky attire.

Registrar Lucy Purkiss said: “We work with couples to make sure their big day is exactly how they want it and on this occasion we are dressing up to fit in with the couple’s Halloween theme, which is going to be great fun.”
