Nottinghamshire pensioner ‘tossed around like a ragdoll’ and mugged

An elderly woman was taken to hospital after being robbed near her home in Sherwood Rise, as the offender was trying to steal the 77-year-old’s handbag.

Jean Maddock, 77, who lives in Ebury Road, was putting her car into her garage at around 10:20pm when the attacker approached her.

The offender tried to grab the pensioners handbag which was strapped across her body.

As he tried to wrestle the bag from the victim, he pushed her against a wall and she received a large cut on her head and bruises over her body, she was later taken to hospital for treatment.

The nurse said I needed 24 hour monitoring in case the swelling was pressing on the brain.

The offender was described as white and in his 20’s, he is said to be a slim build and stands at around five foot seven.

Detective Inspector Mike Allen said: “Thankfully incidents like this are relatively rare but I’d like to remind everyone to stay vigilant.”
