Police release video of group of bikers pulling wheelies and riding on pavements in city centre

Video: Notts Police want to speak to this group of bikers

Notts Police have released footage of a group of bikers they want to speak to caught pulling wheelies and riding on pavements around the city centre.

Officers were told just after 5pm on Sunday April 30 about a group of people riding quad bikes and motorbikes dangerously.

The video shows the group riding them on pavements, pulling wheelies, riding on the wrong side of the road, going through red lights, weaving between traffic and causing other road users and pedestrians to take avoiding action.

Some of the bikers were not wearing helmets – including a child on one of the bikes.

The bikers initially rode along Thurland Street before heading onto Lower Parliament Street, Upper Parliament Street and Maid Marion Way.

Sergeant Huw Jones said: “This is an ongoing police investigation and lines of enquiry are already being followed; we’ve released this CCTV to assist with our investigation and help identify those responsible.

“The manner of driving was extremely dangerous and their behaviour was unacceptable and we want to identify who these people are.

“They committed numerous offences and put the safety of other motorists and pedestrians at risk.

“I don’t want to see a repeat of these irresponsible marauding motorcyclists and quad bikers coming into the city centre and causing mayhem.

“I’d like to reassure the public that we are taking action to tackle this menace of quad bikes and motorbikes being used in an anti-social manner on our streets.

“We need help from our communities to identify those responsible so we can deal with these offenders.”

If you recognise any of the bikers or bikes or think you can help, you are asked to call Notts Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident number 648 of April 30.
