Video: Assistant manager Mark Crossley speaks about the Checkatrade Trophy tie
Notts County assistant manager Mark Crossley thinks the Checkatrade Trophy tie against Rochdale tonight (Tuesday October 4) will be a ‘good test for the players.’
The Magpies beat Hartlepool 2-1 earlier in the competition and come into the game on the back of three straight wins in the league after their game against Morecambe at the weekend was called off.
Rochdale currently sit 11th in Sky Bet League 1 having picked up 15 points from their opening 11 games; the Dale drew 1-1 at home with Sunderland U23 earlier in the Checkatrade Trophy.
You can’t beat winning football matches
Speaking about the importance of the competition, assistant manager Mark Crossley said: “We know how important this can be once you get to the latter stages of it.
“We’ve won this trophy at Chesterfield before and it’s a fantastic few days so it would be nice to move on to the next stages of the competition.
“You can’t beat winning football matches as winning breeds confidence.
“That win against Hartlepool in this competition bred a lot of confidence in the players and we have kicked on from there.”
