PREVIEW: Montanier expects difficult game against ‘organised’ Wigan side

Video: Montanier on what he expects Wigan to bring to the City Ground

Nottingham Forest manager Philippe Montanier is preparing for a ‘difficult’ game against Wigan at the City Ground.

The Reds play Wigan Athletic tomorrow (Saturday August 20) at 3pm in their second home game of the season and will be looking for a win after two away league losses.

Forest currently sit 19th in the table after three games having won three points with a goal difference of -3.

Wigan are 11th having also played three games with four points and a goal difference of plus two.

I’m sure it will be a difficult game

Philippe Montanier said: “They are a good team and they have started very well in the Championship.

“They scored three goals in their second game at home to Blackburn.

“I’m sure it will be a difficult game as they have good organisation and a particular system that is not easy to play against but we will work for that.”

Likely lineups

Nottingham Forest (4-1-4-1): Henderson; Lichaj, Mancienne, Mills, Fox; Lansbury; O Burke, Kasami, Vaughan, Osborn; Assombalonga.

Wigan Athletic (5-4-1): Bogdan; L Burke, Morgan, Burn, Warnock, Perkins; Gilbey, Powell, Power, Wildschut; Grigg.

Forest were 3-0 victors when the two teams last met in a Championship clash at the City Ground in the match which saw Britt Assombalonga sustain an injury which kept him our for three months.

Assombalonga is expected to feature this weekend after the birth of his baby earlier this week but Damien Perquis is suspended following his sending off at Brentford.

Wigan have signed Jordi Gomez on loan from Sunderland for the season and he could make his season debut for the Latics this weekend.

The players may have to play against the conditions too with wind and rain forecast for the fixture.
