The queue started at 9am with over 300 people waiting for the opening of the shop.

Bargain hunters lined up to wait for the city’s new H&M to open its doors on Thursday (May 2).

The new outlet, on the lower mall of the Victoria Centre, includes a home store and extra clothing ranges.

It replaces the previous shop on Lister Gate in the Broadmarsh area and shoppers were happy with the new site.

Nikita, 24, said: “Now that the store has moved, I feel like I will become more of a regular shopper.”

Tracey Holford, 59, described the store as “nice, bright and quite young.”

Luana Patinha, 22, said: “The store looks quite spacious and has a lot of good products.”

Daisy Chapman, 19, said: “The location is definitely much better and they seem to have more pieces in store because it’s much cleaner and nicer than the old store.”

The expansion of the shop includes new services of click & collect and self-checkouts and larger men’s and children’s sections.

Complimentary gifts with purchases were offered to the first 200 customers and H&M members get 20% off their shop on the opening day.

Alice Stewart, PR manager for H&M, said: “We’re really excited to relocate to the Victoria Centre.

“It’s such a phenomenal space for us to be in and we’re in fantastic company with some brilliant brands.

“As well as being a new, stylish and upgraded store with great customer experience, there’s also a lot of convenience for customers here in Nottingham.”

Glen Staniforth, operations manager at the Victoria Centre, said: “H&M is a fantastic addition to the centre.

“We’re very pleased to have them here.

“What H&M brings to the centre is not just the opportunity to shop their clothing, fashion and home range but for people to come and shop for other fashion and home ranges which are similar in the centre such as John Lewis and Next so it complements the centre.”

“It just works with our shopping demographic very well.”
