Nottingham Forest manager Philippe Montanier has said that Britt Assombalonga ‘could be ready for the game’ against Wigan.

The striker was unfit for the game against Brighton last week and came on as a sub at Brentford earlier this week just hours after the birth of his child.

The Reds host the Latics this weekend on Saturday (August 20) at 3pm at the City Ground.

He has been back with the squad this week

Montanier said: “The fitness of Britt Assombalonga is better because before Brighton, it was not possible for him to play.

“He came off the bench against Brentford and after spending time with his family for the birth of his baby, he has been back with the squad this week.

“I think he would like to score for his baby and he could get his opportunity at the weekend.”
