Robin Hood marathon results in temporary changes for trams

The Robin Hood Marathon has a new route which has resulted in some temporary service changes on the city’s tram network.

The Marathon, which is taking place on September 27, will cause several roads to close to make way for the thousands of runners who will be making there way through the city streets and in a number of places the new route crosses the expanded tram network.

From the start of services on Sunday morning until late afternoon trams will operate between Hucknall and Phoenix Park and Royal Centre, Clifton South, and Wilford Village and Toton Lane and University Boulevard.

Customers will then be required to change to a replacement bus service that will be operating every ten minutes from Beeston Centre and Wilford Lane to Royal Centre, providing a connection between all sections of the tram network.

Jamie Swift, NET Marketing Manager, said:”The Robin Hood Marathon is always a very popular event and with road closures affecting motorists, trams and buses we expect to be very busy on the day. We would therefore ask people to allow a little extra time for their journey.”
