A Sneinton man has been jailed after repeatedly stabbing his girlfriend with a boning knife.

Dale Duffield, 34, formerly of Windmill Lane in Sneinton, stabbed the woman in the chest, legs and abdomen.

Duffield pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and was jailed for ten years at Nottingham Crown Court.

Duffield and the woman, who had been together for only a couple of months, had gone back to a friend’s house in Sneinton after a night out.

He had been drinking and taking cocaine before throwing a bottle at the woman, punching her several times and smashing an ashtray over her head.

After threatening to ‘get her’ if she called the police, Duffield left the house and returned with a boning knife.

He forced his way into the address and attacked her again.

She was the victim of extreme violence and abuse

Det Insp Clare Dean said: “This was a deliberate and unprovoked attack on a woman who has been left scarred.

“Instead of experiencing love and trust in a relationship, she was the victim of extreme violence and abuse.

“Unfortunately, there are women throughout the UK who have experienced or are living with domestic violence.

“I hope that today’s sentence shows that Nottinghamshire Police takes this type of violence seriously and we will do everything we can to safeguard victims and bringing perpetrators to justice.”
