Star Wars: Review and pictures of Nottingham kids’ models

The force has landed in Notts.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens premièred in the city and county just after midnight on Thursday morning, with fans queueing outside cinemas to be the first to see the seventh instalment of the epic.

Cineworld in the Cornerhouse put on 41 showings of the film to satisfy fans of the franchise.

And in Mansfield, Gareth Baker was among hundreds of people who queued outside the Odeon at midnight.

“Fans will not be disappointed,” he said.

“It was a film that felt very much like a film for adults. The music was beautiful, the characters were good.”

Elsewhere, in St Ann’s, charity Playworks has been inviting local children to their scrap store in Alfred Street North to make their own Star Wars character models;

Nottingham’s Cineworld, Showcase, Broadway and Savoy cinemas have more than 60 showings of the film between them on Thursday.
