Thieves rob a shop in Newark with a weapon thought to be a gun

Nottinghamshire Police are hunting for four men who have robbed a jewellers in Newark.

Officers were called to Andrew Michael’s jewellers on Stodman Street at around 4.55pm on Wednesday 6 January.

The men entered the shop and threatened the workers with a weapon, which is believed to be a gun.

They left with what has been described as ‘a quantity of jewellery’, heading towards the Castlegate area.

No shots were fired and no one was injured although the workers were understandably shaken by the incident.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak to a female shopper who was in the store at the time of the incident.

She is described as white with dark brown hair and was carrying several carrier bags.
