A nine-year-old girl donated the hair from her first ever cut to the Little Princess Trust for those who have lost their curls to cancer.

Carmen-Annaliese Richardson from Gedling got her first trim on Tuesday (November 28) at The Gate by Nottingham Panthers player Robert Farmer.

She then donated her hair to The Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs to children and adults up to the age of 24 who have lost their hair to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Carmen-Annaliese said: “It’s really sad for children who haven’t got their hair and are in hospital.

“I saw Harry Styles do it and I really wanted to do it.”

Nottingham Panthers’s Robert Farmer was pleased when he was asked to cut the hair.

He said: “It’s great to see someone putting themselves out like that and to be involved must be so rewarding.”

Jamie Cawthan, joint owner of The Gate, has seen people donate their hair before but thought it was extra special when a child decided to do so.

He said: “From my experience, people do this because it’s a fantastic way of giving something that they have to people that don’t.

“They’re able to give something that works for them and to see someone so young do such a graceful thing like this at any time of the year, especially near Christmas, is absolutely fantastic.

“A girl’s hair is a girl’s hair and for her or anyone to do this for someone they probably won’t have met or will meet is amazing.”
