Williams: “Let’s get the club sorted”

Paul Williams says he has enjoyed his time in charge of Nottingham Forest but still doesn’t know if he’ll be there next season.

However he is in no rush and wants the club to sort out other appointments first.

With only one win under the tenure of Williams and Reid, the club is looking for a new manager for next season.

However, Williams said: “It’s been a privilege to represent Nottingham Forest at a management level.”

Forest have been safe from relegation for a while but with the club languishing in 17th place with one game left, away at MK Dons on Saturday.

Williams added: “The players need to focus on their performances and make sure we can look them [the fans] in the eye after the game.”

Williams did say he believes there are building blocks in place for the team to improve next season.

And he feels those changes can happen quickly.

“Look at the likes of Leicester being in the situation they were last year. It can be done in one season,” he said.

However for that to happen, he feels you can’t be losing top players. He said: “If you’ve got aspirations of getting yourselves in the top six and getting promotion, you need to be building teams around Henri Lansbury.”

Lansbury has been a revelation since returning from injury and finally scored last weekend after many near attempts in previous matches. He is likely to continue in his role just behind the main striker.

Forest’s last game of the season kicks off at 12:30 on Saturday at the MK Stadium.
