A fire in a derelict building has closed a major road into Nottingham and caused long traffic delays.
Notts Fire and Rescue Service were called to the blaze in Canning Circus at around 9.20am on Tuesday.
Crews found the fire in a block of derelict shops and shut both lanes on Alfreton Road while they dealt with the incident.
The fire was extinguished by around 9.50pm but the road is still closed because part of the building had to be demolished after checks showed it was unstable.

NCT buses warned diversions are affecting its Pink, Orange, and Turquoise L10/L14 services with journeys taking up to 25 minutes longer than normal.
Canning Circus is unlikely to reopen to traffic until at least 15:00. Awaiting structural engineers on site to assess state of building.
