‘Dad, please contact us’: Video appeal by son of missing Notts man Stan Shanks

The son of a Nottinghamshire man who has been missing for more than four days has made an emotional video appeal for his safe return.

Stan Shanks, 78, was last seen at 9.30am on Friday walking on Walesby Lane in his home town of Ollerton.

He had also been seen at 2am the same morning in nearby Lime Tree Road.

A large police search operation was joined by local volunteers over the weekend, but no trace of him has been found.

Officers said on Monday they are becoming ‘increasingly concerned’ for him as he has to take medication regularly, but is believed to have none of it with him.

Stan’s son, Terry, issued a video appeal on Monday, saying: “Dad if you’re listening, please contact us, or contact the police, we desperately need to know that you are safe and well.

“All your family are waiting at home and they love you very, very much.”

The police helicopter, dog units and the Lowland Search and Rescue team have been concentrating on the areas in and around Ollerton where Stan was last seen.

They resumed the search early on Monday.

Chief Insp Andy Rooke said: “If you think you have seen Stan or have any information at all please get in touch with police.

“I would like to thank all the members of the community who have tirelessly helped in the search and urge people to continue to check sheds, gardens, outbuildings and green spaces.”

Anyone who has seen Stan or has any information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact the force on 101 quoting incident 417 of April 29.
