John Lewis Nottingham store remains closed following pipe burst

John Lewis in Nottingham is still closed after 80,000 litres of hot water leaked from a burst pipe last Tuesday.

Managers had hoped to be open by the weekend, but the store was still shut on Monday – while managers met to discuss the possibility of setting a date for its reopening.

A spokeswoman for the store said: “The store remains closed today and we are still uncertain whether we will be open for the rest of the week.

“We hope to have a better idea of this by later this afternoon.”

The flood, which happened around 10.40pm Tuesday evening, left significant damage to the building and stock, and also affected the electrics, phone lines and lighting.

Staff have been helping with the on-going clean-up operation.

The store hopes to be open again “as soon as possible”.
