The transfer window has shut until the summer, with Nottingham Forest, Notts County and Mansfield Town all active on the February 1 deadline – although it was a low-key affair.

Despite much rumour and a firm push for a new striker from Forest, there were just six transactions involving the three clubs.

Here’s how our live blog reported the day’s action, with Chris Breese, Christian Hewgill, Kieran Matthews and Jake Brigstock.

10.43pm Nottingham Forest’s official Twitter page has released a statement regarding Kyle Embecilio.

10.32pm Less than half an hour to go! Any more for any more? That was the most eventful half an hour for a while!

10.21pm It’s all happening now! Mansfield Town have signed James Baxendale on a free transfer. The attacking midfielder initially signed from Walsall on a loan deal on January 9 but has now signed an 18 month deal.

10.18pm Something’s happened! Kyle Ebecilio’s loan deal at Nottingham Forest has finished early with the midfielder joining Dutch side ADO Den Haag until the end of the season, according to the BBC.

10.15pm The equivalent of a half of football left before the window closes. Will there be any last minute transfers?

8.56pm Good news for Forest about the Rhodes signing is that he won’t play against the Reds again this season! Forest have already played Middlesbrough home and away in the league with Blackburn still to make a trip to the City Ground mid April.

8.51pm That deal has raised the amount spent in this January transfer window to over £154m.

8.50pm Confirmation that ex Forest target Jordan Rhodes has signed a four and a half year deal for Middlesbrough from Blackburn.

8.30pm BBC’s Ian Dennis is reporting that Jordan Rhodes has signed for Middlesbrough from Blackburn for a little less than expected. He believes that the initial fee is just £9m with add-ons that could raise the fee by another £2m.

8.26pm According to the Nottingham Post reporter Paul Taylor, that looks like that could be it this window for Nottingham Forest except for the potential Kyle Ebecilio loan return…

8.06pm News! Ex Nottingham Forest target Jordan Rhodes is at the Middlesbrough training ground ahead of his reported £13m move from Blackburn, according to the Mail Online.

8.00pm And it’s all gone quiet over there… Not much to report within the past 40 minutes or so but will there be any last minute deals with just three hours to go? Could Nottingham Forest’s Kyle Ebecilio be on his way out to make room for a new signing? It could go bonkers at any minute! Stay with us to find out!

7.20pm BBC reporter Ian Dennis believes the Jordan Rhodes deal is agreed and they are just awaiting his signature in a deal worth £13m from Blackburn to Middlesbrough.

6.58pm Seems as though the Jordan Rhodes deal is closing in to completion from Blackburn to Middlesbrough…

6.56pm So to recap Notts County’s deadline day, Gill Swerts has left the club after having his contract terminated by mutual consent with the League 2 outfit bringing in Doncaster’s Gary MacKenzie on a 28 loan deal.

6.54pm Seems like that’s it for Notts County in this transfer window, according to their official Twitter account.

6.53pm Looks like Nottingham Forest loanee Kyle Ebecilio is going back to FC Twente before then being loaned out to ADO Den Haag. The deal is not expected to have any hitches but Forest may have to continue to pay some of his wages, according to Nottingham Post’s Paul Taylor. Will this pave the way for Forest to bring someone in?

6.32pm Ex Nottingham Forest target Jordan Rhodes is at the Middlesbrough training ground ahead of completing an expected move from Blackburn, according to Sky Sports.

6.07pm Mansfield Town presenting their new signing Dan Alfei. He will play with the Stags until the end of the season subject to international clearance. He has made four appearances for the Swans in his time there so far.

5.22pm According to Sky Sports, former Nottingham Forest striker Darius Henderson, who made 44 appearances for the club scoring 10 goals in all competitions from January 2013 until the end of the 2013/14 season, has had his contract with Scunthorpe cancelled by mutual consent. The forward made 13 appearances for the Iron without scoring.

5.03pm Former Notts County loanee Zeli Ismail has been snapped up on loan from Wolves by Oxford United, according to the BBC.

4.42pm The latest on the Billy Davies saga courtesy of Nottingham Post reporter Paul Taylor.

4.39pm Nottingham Post reporter Paul Taylor believes Kilmarnock will appoint Billy Davies as their new manager once a financial settlement has been reached with Nottingham Forest, according to the Scottish media.

4.32pm The Notts County Gary MacKenzie deal isn’t quite over the line yet but is expected to be shortly, according to Christian Hewgill.

4.13pm See what Notts County manager Jamie Fullarton had to say about incoming signing Gary MacKenzie after speaking to Notts TV’s own Christian Hewgill.

4.07pm According to the Daily Mail, Brentford launched a £500,000 bid for Nottingham Forest’s Jamie Paterson but HITC Sport have pointed out that the transfer cannot go through… He is currently on loan at Huddersfield with no recall clause in his contract. Brentford did not realise this when they made the bid.

3.59pm Back to the Jordan Rhodes saga, according to the BBC, the ex Nottingham Forest target’s move from Blackburn to Middlesbrough looks to be back on after an improved £13m offer.

3.35pm Kilmarnock are hoping to appoint former Forest manager Billy Davies as manager after Gary Locke quit following a defeat at the hands of Hamilton. The 51 year-old Scot is still on gardening leave from Forest, meaning that Kilmarnock may have to negotiate with Forest to appoint him.

3.25pm Mansfield boss Adam Murray is hoping to add to the squad before the window closes at 11pm.

2.32pm BREAKING: Nicky Hunt has left Mansfield Town for Leyton Orient for an undisclosed fee.

1.50pm  With the news that John Terry is set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, Stuart Broad has issued a speculative attempt to lure the former England captain back to the City Ground, where he enjoyed a brief loan spell in 2000.

1.30pm Former Belgian international Gill Swerts has had his contract terminated by Notts County by mutual consent. Jamie Fullarton told their site “He’s been a top professional since I came through the door and I know he’ll be missed in the changing room. Sadly though he wants first team football at this moment but I can’t guarantee any player that, but we obviously wish him all the best in the future.”

1.20pm A man that Forest have been linked with in the past and Dougie would to love to have the funds to sign now looks set to join Middlesbrough. Jordan Rhodes’ transfer saga has taken another twist as his £11 million transfer from Blackburn looks to be back on.

1.12pm In major football news Pep Guardiola will take over at Manchester City at the end of the season, signing a three year contract.

12.40pm  Nottingham Forest are trying to offload Kyle Ebecilio on the cheap to try and free up some funds for Freedman, according to the Post.

12.32pm We are hearing unconfirmed rumours on social media that Jason Banton is training with Notts County. The pacy winger was released by Wycombe Wanderers three days ago.

12.16pm Alongside transfer deadline day, today also marks a year to the day since Dougie took over the reds. How do you think Dougie has done over his first year in charge? His record currently stands at 17 wins, 16 draws and 17 losses, all very symmetrical. Tweet your thoughts to @Notts_TV

11.58am According to the Nottingham Post the reds do not have much wriggle room to sign players after FC Twente refused to take back Kyle Ebecilio from his loan deal at Forest. Chris Burke’s loan deal to Rotherham has freed up a squad place but very little money. Paul Taylor reports that Forest have under £5k a week in wages to sign a striker that Freedman so desperately wants.

11.40am We are hearing rumblings from the One Call Stadium that captain Nicky Hunt might be on his way to Leyton Orient to play under former team mate Kevin Nolan. Nolan told the Guardian “Obviously (Nicky Hunt)he’s someone we’re really interested in and hopefully we will see some positive news in the next 48 hours. Maybe there will be a couple (of transfers)but Nicky’s one we’re certainly interested.”

11.04am We have our first Mansfield Town nugget, HITC Sport reckon Daniel Alfei is set to sign for the Stags on loan from Swansea. The site says unnamed sources at the Premier League club are letting the defender go out on loan in a do or die bid for a new contract.

11am We now welcome to the live blog Kieran Matthews. He has the honour of the afternoon shift. He has a massive bottle of fizzy drink on his desk and he is ready for rumour.

10.39am MacKenzie, who stands at 6ft 4ins “takes no prisoners once he crosses the white line” according to the Doncaster club website. The 30-year-old was schooled at Rangers and has also played for Blackpool.

10.28 EXCLUSIVE: The rumblings have turned into a volcano. Notts County are expected to sign centre back Gary MacKenzie from Doncaster. Talks are reaching a conclusion and confirmation expected later.

10.20am Christian Hewgill is back from Meadow Lane. There are some rumblings. More later. (Clue: They are not related to his bacon and egg sarnie)

10.11am By far one of the most surprising signings of the window, if you can call it that, is the return to football, albeit briefly, of Stuart Pearce. He’s joined non-league Longford AFC for one game in an effort to support grass roots football. Here’s how we reported the story on Thursday.

9.59am It could be a calm one at the City Ground today. Dougie Freedman has said he will be happy just to keep the squad together. But here’s a reminder for Reds fans of what a Dougie deadline can bring.
