Former Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has joined Nottingham Forest on loan for the rest of the season.
His arrival is subject to international clearance and he will be available on Saturday to face Sheffield Wednesday.
The 24-year-old rose to prominence after scoring a late winner on his debut against Aston Villa for the Red Devils back in 2009 but saw his opportunities limited at Old Trafford.
He has spent a large part of his footballing career in the Championship, including spells at Birmingham City and Doncaster Rovers.
Macheda has found his opportunities at parent club Cardiff City limited this season due to injury.
The deal also mean Forest have ended their interest in former Crystal Palace and Bolton midfielder Andre Moritz.
Nelson Oliveira is a doubt for the reds after limping off early on Tuesday night in Forest’s 1-0 win over Preston so Macheda could be put straight into Dougie Freedman’s starting eleven.
There is a 24-hour recall clause in the deal, according to Cardiff manager Russell Slade.
